wHy DoN'T CaRS uSE V16 EnGiNES? Bugatti made a V16 Engine, despite making a W16 Engine and the whole point of making a W16 was because 8 cylinders in a row on each bank was too long, therefore they compacted them down into a VR8 on each side and getting the chonky W16. Now they are undoing the pursuit of THICC for the pursuit of LANKY. This is a certified Gen Z Description.

Technically the Rolls Royce Phantom was originally planned to have a 9 litre V16, before it was replaced with a V12. A few of those V16 engines were actually made, and were used in the film Johnny English Reborn

*Long, girthy, hard to fit in tight areas* is the best description of a V16 engine

A modern V16 will go absolute nuts because they can put in a flat crank but like you said designing a chassis to hold all that is another thing

I think Bugatti saw this and was like 'bet', so the new one has a v16

You can find V16 engines in a lot of industrial equipment. Things like off-highway trucks, industrial generators, and even some agricultural equipment.

Don't forget about the original 30s Cadillac V16!
And btw, last week BMW revealed a second V16 prototype, Goldfish part 2. It was a prototype built while the E38 7 series was in development and was way bigger to properly fit the V16 into it unlike with the original Goldfish prototype. It looks amazing and would have been super luxurious (more of a Rolls-Royce rival than a Mercedes S-Class rival), but 90s economy sucked and so this car got binned

Ever notice how when people talk about old V8 engines, they always fail to mention the torque output, which is what they really measure when running a dyno. (horsepower equals torque multiplied by rpm. H = T x rpm/5252). Low HP doesn't necessarily mean a weak engine.

V16s are long but are not as wide as you think... they will use a 45° degree bank angle which is half of a v8 90° angle... so its long but narrow

Ah yes the v16. Perfect for anything that's a small locomotive, or BIGGER.

V16 is the Inline 8 of that engine type.
