I rode this water slide when it first opened and I never knew it wasn’t designed by a professional engineer 😳 glad I only rode it once!

The netting is so terrifying and one of the worst builds I've ever seen. It doesn't take a genius to understand a thin metal fence is bad news when going 70 mph. How is that going to protect you?

this is the last thing that boy saw, fucking sad man

All that metal passing above your head sure seems unnerving at those speeds.

Pure genius putting a mesh metal fence overhead to stop people from flying out.

I felt so sick watching this, that poor little boy. My heart really does go out to his family

They literally ignored engineers, specialists, and the multiple warning signs when they were testing the concept where the raft would just fly off the ride.

From Wikipedia:
Reportedly, Caleb, who weighed 74 pounds (34 kg), had been allowed to sit in the front of the raft, rather than between the two women accompanying him – one weighed 275 pounds (125 kg), while the other weighed 197 pounds (89 kg).[31] This created an uneven weight distribution, which some experts concluded may have contributed to the raft going airborne.

Imagine going out soo excited to have fun . And then everything ends in a short time when you only wanted to have fun

1:07, the net looks dangerously close.

Even the slide itself when you look at it from a far looks sinister

This is one of those contraptions that sounds way better on paper than in practicality. That mesh should've immediately been seen as a hazard and removed.

I remember watching a TV show about the construction of this slide. I won’t forget how they refused to let anyone see the first few test runs and how the rafts went plummeting off the ride. It honestly shouldn’t have been a surprise when we heard about the tragedy on the news.

The fact that the owners had no engineering experience and created a ride mind blows me . RIP to Caleb 🙏

It’s honestly a miracle only one person was killed in this considering it was designed and built by two guys who aren’t engineers

'The raft he was riding went airborne during the ascent of the second hill and impacted a metal support of the netting, decapitating him.'

This ride was an accident waiting to happen…

"Not too bad"

Indeed, you even still got your head over your shoulders

I can’t even imagine the horror of seeing a young child nearly headless from the neck showing up in the front, being one of the workers at the end grabbing each riders float

The fact that this ride was only 10_15 seconds long and it killed that boy in just that time goes to show how dangerous it was so glad it was torn down, My condolences to his family but also to the women that witnessed it all they will be traumatised for life
