I suffer from the rare form COPD Alpha 1 = genetic inherited lung emfysema, lost my mother and grand mother because of it. Because i suffer from the Alpha 1 type, i got diagnosed at a young age, around the age of 25. As normal COPD 'if i can say it that way' is usually diagnosed around the ages 45-50.

I have been diagnosed with emphysema every 3 to 4 months i get fever and infections. Although i am 37 and still generally fit but dont know about the future.

The inhaler work in the beginning but I'm trying to get zephyr valves borderline hoping i either wake up with them or not talk about a tease collateral ventilation is not good for collapsing the lobes i dont know what next will ask then coils a reduction surgery if it would help count me in I live alone so nursing home ifvi live

So if i have advance emphysema, will it show on an x-ray? I know a C-Scan is better, and PFT, but shouldn't a goos Radiologist see it in an x-ray?

I was told in 1999 i had emphazema...i had to quit taking meds over 10 yr ago..id put on over 100 lbs...now...im outta breath...tying my shoes. I hope i have a few years left...i still smoke
