I swear, her knowledge base is unparalleled. Almost my entire introspective journey has been guided by her content, 😅. Not long after I started consciously looking inward, i stumbled across one of her videos. That just so happened to be exactly where i was at and answered the questions i was having. And it's been a literal rinse and repeat crash course ever since. 😅😮

That last sentence, man. My mind is blown.
Maybe that's how you come to terms with that self-hater, so the integration can happen more easily. Wow. I am lost for words.

I've been in more or less active recovery from the severe maltreatment and neglect I went through as a child and adolescent, and I thought I'd thought about it all in all the ways, but the way she put it here was a new one for me. That we hate ourselves not (just) because we mirror other people's behaviors, but because we attempt to get rid of what we think it is that people reject.

In many ways, you could take that to say that the parts of ourselves we hate most are actually those that makes us who we are, because we would have only kept the parts that weren't - if they weren't rejected by a parent who did not love us for who we were, they couldn't have been crucial to our identity and who we were.

Fascinating. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing. It’s worth years of therapy for people who were psychologically damaged by rejection as a small child. This analysis is so profound to explain how unwanted children instinctively reset the brain to survive rejection. I experienced rejection as a very young child and spent years seeking the approval of my grandmother who raised me because I needed that connection. I did everything to be the person I thought she wanted me to be. I survived but never knew the person I was created to be. Now, I realize I’m not what happened to me and feel free enough to discover who I really am - not a person who was rejected but one who has value and worth.

I found this channel and I'm so drawn to the jarring nature of everything. It skips a lot of bullsh**. Absolutely fascinated.

So true! The book “You Are The One You’ve Been Waiting For” by Richard Schwartz is life-changing, and explains all of these different “parts” of us, the child, the protector, etc. SO helpful.

Weirdly enough, when I was in high school I gave her a name - the voice in my head that hated my guts. Asked her what’s her purpose and if we could be friends. And she became more loyal, and instead pushed people away who couldn’t accept me - because connection with myself and all parts of myself felt more nourishing than to others (I’m an introvert, which in combination I’ve found gives me confidence and makes me seem outspoken and unafraid to approach anyone, because there’s nothing I can lose if I’m all I need as a foundation if that makes sense). Now she’s more integrated and life’s a whole lot more fun and nourishing and my genuine friends also appreciate that darker side of me that stands up and protects them 😌

That's why some people develop different conditions that are labelled wrong by society, they are just adaptations and temporary solutions until we find wholeness and reciprocity.
