One Marcus Aurelius quote I tell myself when I’m putting stuff off is “you suffer justly, because you choose to be good tomorrow rather than today”

My husband taught our children this message when they were preteens and I believe it changed things for them significantly. 🙏🏼

It makes me happy to see how many people are still interested in Marcus Arelius.

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. How often we forget the golden rule as we go through life; yet it is the best advice for getting along with others.

This makes me think of one of my favorite lines “You gotta let people be hypocrites. Not every pony grows up to be a Pegasus.” - Slug from Atmosphere. Helped me to be more patient with all the people that suck, including myself at times.
The more of your videos I watch, the more I’m realizing how much I align with Stoicism.

Excellent advice. Easy said, but difficult, at times. Thanks.

I'm a huge fan of your channel and your books... One small dissent I would lodge is you need to review your chapter in Stillness on relationships. IMHO it elides too much, like that many people never meet the right partner and that other people's romantic acceptance of one is beyond that person's control. Of course you might have meant a larger context than just sexual/romantic partnerships, like friendships, but that seemed to be the main thrust of your article.

Of course the locus of control for many single people is more aligned with Epictetus's realization that we can only control what we can control -- and intimate relationships are decidedly a beneficence the universe bestows (or withholds) depending on any number of random variables.

It's actually a comfort for me to hear that ppl suck. I've always wondered what I did to get that kind of treatment. This takes me out of the equation. I can also choose to accept that someone is a jerk and then let it go. Thanks for this.

I should’ve watched this this morning instead of this evening, if you catch my drift.
