Yeti 4x4 meets Enyaq iV 80

Using Skoda's first modern day SUV – the Yeti – and its first fully electric SUV – the Enyaq – Chris Knapman explains how the car industry has transformed over the past 20 years. Themes include the rise of increasingly dominant players using shared platforms to drive profits, through to the growing popularity of SUVs, and more recently still the emergence of electrification.

As well as seeing how Skoda's family SUV offerings have progressed from its original to its most recent, Chris takes both cars for a drive and looks at how the company has managed to retain a sense of uniqueness despite being part of the VW Group.

The VW group have a talent for sharing parts within the brands while letting those brands have there own signature style. I Think Skoda are the prime brand that makes the cars different though as you mention the physical buttons remain instead of those touchy feely items on some others. Although Skoda is no longer a cheap brand they do offer so much more in practicality and sensible features, the ticket holder on the windscreen for example. My first Skoda was a 2012 Yeti and was brilliant for that time, it would still be brilliant compared to cars available a decade later. For now I'll stick with the by todays standards older Karoq with the same flexible rear seats as I had in my Yeti. I'd certainly look at the Enyaq when it's time to change but lead times are very long at the moment. A great video and thanks for sharing.

I had a 2014 yeti black edition and I loved it! So much better then the boxy SUV copycat designs of its replacements

Yeti - all the car you ever need. People would be doing more for the environment by buying a second hand Yeti over an Enyaq, and at the same time save themselves £30k plus.

Informative video. As a first gen Yeti owner - like you - I cannot be swayed to own another car.

What a great video. I am a VERY happy owner of a 2011 Yeti - love it to bits and every time I think of upgrading I cannot find anything compelling enough to lure me away except for .... a better speced Skoda Yeti or if I had the money the Enyaq - there is no electric car to better it for the money. Time to buy a lottery ticket....

I haven't driven an Enyaq, but have sat in one. It's a large car - approaching Range Rover size. The inside is gorgeous, and looks very high quality....

Just bought my third yeti, a 1.2 SEL DSG Outdoor. P/Ex my Kia Soul Maxx EV which some might find odd, but the public charging network is just not fit for purpose IMO. Love the Yeti design, most comfortable seats and all in all an excellent all round car which Skoda should never have discontinued.

I'll take the Yeti, better looking, better ergonomics and dash, and a CD player instead of cheap Bluetooth

Skoda Yeti is car with charakter. I have 1.8 TSI and you can make even chip tunning for racing car. So buy yeti, make good service and you will have a lot of joy. Enyaq is different, but it seem as every SUV. Its pitty, that Skoda do not continue in original designe of Yeti.

Prefer to Tesla swap my Yeti for the retro factor, but only when there's not a drop of diesel left!

I’ve just checked the Wayback Machine to find the new car prices of 59 plate Yeti and multiplied by the increase in the RPI index. This tells me the new electric successor range of cars should be priced between £20, 000 and £33, 000. Given Skoda demand a whole lot more, the base car now is even far more expensive than the previous top of the range variant, we can be certain the new car is far, far worse than the old car when prices are adjusted for inflation. Another epic fail by the VW group.

The electric cars are going nowhere in their present state.
Stick to the diesel Yeti.
