I've been taking it 200mg a day for the last 2 years or more. Some side effects i didnt expect was weight loss and i completely hate alcohol. I think about 60 days in i realized i didn't have wine night. I calculated the dates backwards and it was around the time i started this to help balance my sleep. Fast fwd, ive tried to have a glass here and there and just No. I literally feel sick just smelling it. Ohh and my sleep has improved.

Hey, great video. Just want to add 5-htp also has a major interaction with over the counter cough syrup (dextromethorphan). I've just learned this myself and wanted to share.

Lo estoy tomando para el insomnio y, la verdad, se nota la diferencia desde los primeros días. Consultando con la IA, se recomienda usar dosis bajas para no afectar la dopamina(>100 mg), y tomarlo por 2 o 3 meses, dependiendo de cómo te vayas sintiendo, para luego dejarlo y evitar que el cuerpo se vuelva dependiente. La idea es estabilizar el organismo para que después funcione por sí solo.

Becareful with this. Antidepressants make me have suicidal thoughts. This did the same thing. I had anxiety, never been suicidal.

Question: Can 5-HTP be taken together with L-Theanine? So that you both have the benefits of being more calm and relaxed + lowering depression and anxiety with + better quality of sleep? This of course without ruining dopamine levels? Or do you have to combine it with L-tyrosine as a rule?

I took HTP three nights; about 50 mg and got really bad headaches. Did not feel good the next day. Melatonin does same thing to me and makes me tired the next day, even 1mg. I think some people are just sensitive too these, not sure why? I have been taking Theanine for 2 nights and this might be more my thing. Relaxes me so I can sleep. I feel just a little relaxed with Theanine the next day but will cut dose in half and see if that helps.

Can you provide a source that proves that 5htp depletes other neurotransmittors. I have asked other youtubers that makes this claim and nonone has provided good sources. I know for a fact that there is a source from a study that that has been RETRACTED. This makes this source not valid or simply not reliable. Some people might use this source.

Can you present a source or maybe several? I mean a direct link to a study not a secondary source, that proves this claim.

I took Zoloft since many years ago to stabilize serotonin levels in my brain. I stopped taking it under the control of my doctor. Is 5htp a good alternative for my problem? Because, now I have a better feeling and situation but still I have a feeling to boost my serotonin levels. I will talk to my doctor this month, but I want to know your idea. Thanks a lot 🙏🙏.

this is a great vid specially that not a lot talks about all of that
but i'm interested in knowing more about the kind of tests that can get our neurotransmitters profile
i live in Dubai and tried to ask a lot of Dr and medical professionals but it seems that most of them don't know much about it
i see that it is a great tool if it will be accurate to assist even with adhd or even other symptoms as the low or high serotonin side effects are the same mostly
even to know the base line that we are at before diving in with any supps or meds same what we do for vit d or iron we test for it first seeing where we are at then we can assist the dose accordingly

I take a complex supplement that is a proprietary blend and 5-htp is one of the ingredients. But I never take it alone, last time I did all I wanted to do was sleep. That was on 100-200 mg by the way
