What is Battery-as-a-Service or BaaS?
MG says BaaS is a battery rental scheme, but in essence, it is a finance scheme which is backed by four specific third-party financiers. Essentially, the customer pays the cost of the vehicle up front – or through a loan – and the battery is paid for separately on a rental basis.

Without a bigger battery and being such a huge car it does not qualify for family car or highway car... Better they could have brought a small car with this battery It might be a good choice for corporate executives travel within city or to bring expats from Airport to the office within city... They would love it....

BAAS by MG is a great move to lure potential customers, The strategy is very aggressive with competitive pricing. The best part is everything is customizable for each and every customer's needs.

Mg basically broke the code and converted battery into petrol. Now pay and use like other petrol vehicles. What a great strategy by Mg. Awesome.

Morris Garages India is marketing there EV’s with new concept “Battery as a Service (BaaS) “model.
This offers the EV without cost of battery, and battery rent is @Rs 2.5, 3.5, 4.5/KM for different models for a fixed period, with life time warranty on battery, and 60% buy back after 3 years.
Comparing to running cost of EV ( 60 paise to 1 rupees per Km ) with conventional car and other benefits this offer of company Looks attractive.
It’s an opportunity for buyers to own the EV without loan.

Note : its not rent, its a battery on loan. Money you pay is taken as installment and loan principal keeps reducing.

Please answer my queries :

1 - In the Vidhyut plan, if I don’t drive at all in a month, will I still have to pay any battery rental? Is there a minimum fee even if no kilometers are driven?
2 - If I drive 300 km per month for 3 years, how much total rent would I have paid for the battery? I calculate the total rent as ₹37, 800 (10, 800 km × ₹3.5 per km). If I plan to sell the car after 3 years and exit the Vidyut plan, will I need to pay any outstanding amount for the battery under the "foreclose the outstanding battery amount" option? How is this calculated?
3 - Regarding the 60% buyback offer under the BAAS plan, does the 60% apply to the total invoice including the battery, or just the car’s cost? For example, if the car costs ₹10 lakh and the battery ₹3 lakh, how much will I get back after 3 years? Assuming that I have bought maintenance package and the car condition is good after 3 years.

Concept introduced by MG is impressive. Hoping, car price (with battery), to be 12-13 lakhs. That will be real disrupting step, and will outperform Tata's punch ev and nexon ev, both.

Battery Cost calculation
He said finance for 8 years @1500Km/month @3.5Rs/km = 5, 04, 000/- (including interest)
Now if we assume a loan company with interest of 9.5%PA for 8 years
3, 36, 000 Amount Principal
1, 68, 375 Interest Amount
~5, 04, 000 Total
Hence I guess battery is near around 3.5 to 4 Lacs
(It's my own analysis with a simple SIP calculator )

If charge outside by default it cost minimum 2 to 4 rupees per KM
If to charge Rs.3 + to run Rs3.5 =6.5 per KM
I think it’s going to be same like running a CNG vehicle.

Not a good scheme if you are manufacturering both ice and ev vehicle ....do a simple math and you will realise that on selling ev manufacturers makes much more profit than ice, and by releasing baas programme mg just made things more clear to the customer.
