In our top story, the erupting wildfire emergency in Alberta continues and is expected to escalate this weekend as unseasonably hot and dry weather hits. The concern is the arrival of a heat dome that could fuel the situation. Albertans understandably are on edge. With the searing heat, threat of lightning strikes and fierce winds, it will likely ignite and fan even more fires. Marney Blunt reports.

It was a meeting that came at a critical time. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Pope Francis on Saturday, their first face-to-face since Russia invaded Ukraine last year. As Touria Izri reports, the talks come during a pivotal moment in the conflict, but some political experts believe the meeting is long overdue.

Are the causes of these fires being investigated? Are satellite film being closely monitored? I can't help but think that many may be caused by human actions, both accidental and intentional. At the onset of this 'fire season, ' the number of fire outbreaks seems suspicious quite frankly. Lightening? pfff!
