A tornado has touched down in the Ottawa suburb of Barrhaven, frightening residents and damaging at least 125 homes. David Baxter reports from the scene about the damage and speaks with witnesses about what they experienced.

People in southern Europe are sweltering under a severe heat wave, which has been named "Cerberus," after the three-headed dog in Greek mythology who guards the gates of hell. Crystal Goomansingh reports on how people are coping with the unbearable heat in a continent where air conditioning is not common in homes.

The British Columbia Maritime Employers Association and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union have agreed to a tentative four-year deal after a 13-day B.C. port strike, drafted by a federal mediator. Neetu Garcha reports on the reaction and the lingering effects the labour disruption will have on the Canadian economy.

Hollywood actors are going from running lines to the picket lines, joining screenwriters who began their job action in May. The last time both groups simultaneously walked off the job was 1960. Jackson Proskow explains what the actors' union is demanding, what they're being offered and how the stoppage will affect what you watch.

Tensions are flaring in Winnipeg after the provincial government decided not to support the search of the Prairie Green landfill for the remains of Indigenous women believed to be dumped at the site in 2022. Melissa Ridgen reports on the growing calls to conduct a search and the frustration of one victim's family.

Aspartame, one of the most popular artificial sweeteners used in many sugar-free foods and drinks, has been declared as "possibly carcinogenic to humans" by the World Health Organization (WHO). It sounds scary, so what does it really mean? Katherine Ward has a reality check on the WHO's stance and how critics call this warning misleading and unnecessary.

Plus, an Ottawa family is feuding with an unknown neighbour, who's complained to the city multiple times about the family's basketball net, claiming it's out of bounds. Touria Izri reports on this bureaucratic battle, the reaction from other residents and how the mother is stuck jumping through hope just so her kids can play.

The piece of lumber through the wall at 0.12 is an example of how even a small tornado can hurt you. "It's not *how* the wind is blowing, it's *WHAT* the wind is blowing"

What the hell are they talking about..."without warning"! We had tornado watches and warnings being issued all day long in the area. If people are too lazy to take the time to learn what the warnings mean and take appropriate action, that's their fault!

We haven’t really been getting prolonged periods of gentle rain over the last few years here in my part of Manitoba. Instead, when we get rain, it’s intense and short lived

Why not park your car on the street and play hoop in your driveway?

Put the lawyer and judge that let Damien back out on the streets
into jail pending judicial review

I don't know why they keep saying "without warning" when the entire day they have warned us of possible Tornadoes just not specific locations.

No. Playing ball games close to people's houses is wrong. It's 2023! People work from home, people work night shifts etc... Maybe their lazy parents should take them to a park with a court, rather than endangering the kids by letting them play so close to the road. Our lives don't revolve around your children.

19:58 How about, be a good neighbor and obey the bylaws!!! Boo hoo you have to keep moving the net. When someone hits one of your kids, because they are chasing the ball, are you going to cut the driver some slack?? Obey the rules!! sorry they aren't convenient for you.
Irresponsible parenting allowing the children that close to the road.
What are you teaching your kids??
Rules don't apply to us sweetie, our bad neighbors are complaining because we are breaking the law, but we don't want to have to follow these rules because it puts us out, so mommy is going to make a sign and tell the neighbors how mean they are being for wanting us to follow the rules. WOW

the Brits are saying that when it's super hot...like a week or 2 ago solar panels didn't work. They get their panels from the same place that we do....why isn't this a story in Canada and the US??

Actors shouldn’t get paid more than doctors or engineers. 🤦🏽‍♂️

The basketball net thing is a bit silly. When i was a kid the basketball net was at the end of the driveway - my parents would move the car back so ibcould play, pull it in when im done. Why can't this lady do the same?

Aspartame: I know people who do that 14 cans easily in a day. you have no idea how bad this is with people.

lady says...their safe, their on the street, then at the end of the clip the girl chases the ball out onto the street without looking for cars. These people are fools and somewhat naive in their perfect little world, then they will complain about safety one day when an accident happens.

It hard to feel sorry for actors who are paid massive salaries compared to average people.
