is a vector a linear combination or say x+y=0 and x+3y=0 is the x's a vector and the y's a vector?

One thing to add: The span of two vectors will also be a line and not a plane if they are parallel 

if I understand it correctly, is it span{0, 0} = 0?
as the video does not mention this situation.

Btw, it is really good and finally clear up my confusion :)
