Can Switch 2’s Graphics Compete With PS5? | Punching Up, Episode 11

While we're only getting small crumbs of rumors and leaks about the successor to the Switch, there's always just enough to get our minds going on the possibilities. It's rumored that the device will feature cross-gen games with the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, and even the new Far Cry could be a launch title. Our biggest question is, what are the compromises, and will they be as significant as the current Switch cross-gen games? Outside of that, it's been relatively quiet on the Nintendo front, so we got into your questions! What are the decisions Nintendo has made that bug us the most? Are we interested in clone devices like the Analogue Pocket, or are we original hardware enthusiasts? Did Dustin's youth group take it too far when he was growing up? Please enjoy!

Dagan, Vampire Survivors, farm the heck out of Library. That's probably the easier levels to grind. Easier to avoid getting surrounded since you only have to worry about enemies from the sides for the most part and enemies aren't too strong (compared to the other constrained levels).

God I hope we're getting more Donkey Kong. Get David Wise up in there for the OST. Make some new DKC games and a new big budget 3D DK game like DK64. I'd be so happy.

I think you are discounting the benefit of playing portable.

I think it will absolutely matter if they can get close or not.

Being able to play in more places is nice and if the differences are minor i think people would absolutely do it.

You are the man. I've been listening to LSM since it's conception, and throughout all the years, Colin would repeatedly harken back to his "his older brother Dagan". I don't think people in the comments really understand the importance of that Nvidia/Nintendo partnership. Even if in raw power the Switch 2 will be comparable to PS4 Pro it will have a more modern SOC than what that gen had, more ram and features like DLSS which will make it punch WAY above its weight.

I was at Target at the local mall recently waiting for the Great Clips to open up in order to get a Dustin-like haircut, I wondered into the games section. I tried some Mario game demo that I enjoyed that I almost bought a sticky Switch! Almost!

My prediction is that the stylized Nintendo first party games could run docked at 4K (or upscaled 4K) 60fps. No, it won't push nearly as many polygons as PS5, but it will look quite good on a modern TV and the inevitable 'OLED' model with a 1080p handheld screen.
