The mindfulness music in this video has binaural beats in theta - a frequency of 4–7 Hz. Theta binaural beats help in meditation, creativity, and the early phase of sleep. Only listening on headphones that allow for distinct sound delivery to each ear will work with binaural beats. If you are unable to listen this way, the music will still have a calming, meditative impact - just not in quite the same way.

How to be mindful and meditate using our videos

Our playlist of 5 Minute Mindfulness Music videos are a blend of meditation music with relaxing nature films for visualisation.

Mindfulness music is a perfect background to relax, meditate, practice yoga, study, read, massage or for just doing housework. It helps us relax and boost positive energy, which helps us overcome anxiety, tension, and insomnia.

The visuals are there as an aid, allowing the mind to rest on something other than what is going on around us. When the mind wanders it can help to return focus to the imagery.

You can use our videos in whatever way best helps you (there’s no one-size-fits-all) but here is are some tips:

Find somewhere to be mindful. In theory you can do this anywhere but it is best to try a location with few distractions.
Get comfortable. Get yourself in a location and posture that allows you to be comfortable. You can try sitting on a chair, lying on a bed, or sitting on the floor. If you're sitting, maintain a comfortable but not slouched posture. It also helps if you're wearing loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.
Wear headphones. Not essential but headphones help to block out any distractions and are necessary for gaining the effects of binaural beats.
Focus on the music and/or visuals. As thoughts arise, gently let them go and focus your attention on the music/video, the present moment, and the sensations you are experiencing. The purpose of this exercise is to silence your inner critic and simply 'be.' Simply 'be' with the music and visualisations - really immerse yourself, and you'll find yourself feeling more relaxed in no time!
