How to learn maqamat Part 1 - What are maqamat?

If you've ever wanted to recite Quran beautifully, perhaps you've come across the term maqam or the plural maqamat. But what exactly are maqamat, and how can you go about learning them? In this 3-part series I'm going to show you the method I use to teach maqamat in our programs, especially my Overnight Qari Experience. It's our tried and tested method of teaching maqamat that makes it super easy to learn. I'll explain this using maqam hijaz, but the same method can apply to any other maqam as well.
