use the #iloveyouchallenge hashtag! would love to see any of own parents' reactions!

I pulled an all-nighter editing this video because I just couldn't step away from this footage. These conversations were captivating. And the entire night, I was constantly smiling and even got teary-eyed a couple times :'). And the more I watched the clips, the more I was touched by what was happening in these videos.

Something Justin's mom said really stuck to me - she says something to the effect of "you should say I love you more." And it's strange to hear that coming from someone who rarely said "I love you" to their kid growing up.. but the more I thought about the implications of her saying that the more i realized how important it is to stop and feel what we are feeling. And then make sure to turn around and tell the people we love and appreciate that we love and appreciate them.

I hope you guys enjoyed this video. If you read this far in the comment box, lemme know too :) I want to know who actually reads these comment box things.

Asian parents show their love through "Drive slow"s and "Did you eat dinner?"s, and honestly I feel more love and intimacy in those words than the three word phrase.

I'm Indian. I cringed inside a bit when imagining saying this to my parents. I realize how sad that is after watching the video

Once I text my mom "I love you, mom" then leave my phone and go out cause I'm too shy. About 40mins later, there were 11 missed call and 3 messages from mom. Thosr messages are: "What happen?", "Are you ok?" She thought I was going to suicide LOL

I personally think that there's nothing wrong with the Indian's Dad reaction. Yeah, he didn't reply with "I love you too", but at the same time he also showed great affection toward her daughter. At least probably in some traditional "Asian" ways, lol.. See how he:
1. Feel genuinely happy (Thank you, thank you!)
2. Checking out her daughter (So everything is okay, right?)
3. Probably worried about her daughter, that he wanted her to be close/at home (So when are you coming home)
4. Might think that her daughter are having some problem (Okay, we'll talk)
5. He just wanna be there to protect her daughter, the way father's did (Thank you, take care, Go slow, okay?)

"I love you mom"
"what do you want..."

...why do they get suspicious of me when I say something nice?!

To those who are backlashing the Indian dad, well it's very clear he loves his daughter, and Is happy of her calling him, Indians just have a different way of expressing love among family members, not necessarily by saying ' I love you'

Omg I almost cried when one of the moms said "I've been waiting for this day. I never gave up hope!" Like what does this say about us 😭😭😭

One of the best videos ever.   I call my mom who lives in Korea and I always end with "Uh mu nee, I love you!"  and she always has an awkward  "mmmm... gu rae (ok)"   and ONCE in awhile she says "I love you too"  and I crack up because I know she's uncomfortable saying it but I know she's smiling.   On my wedding day, they flew from Korea to LA and when I bowed to her and hugged her during the ceremony to honor her, she whispered in my ear the most intense, tearful, soft,  "I love you"  and all of a sudden I got an allergic reaction to onions.   Who the hell was cutting onions in the first row???     Great Video Steven Lim !

I am from India and I have never said I love you to my parents and neither have they even once, in all the 27 yrs of my life. But I do love my parents and they do love me too.. I haven't heard my parents saying it to each other as well.. And they are happily married for 30 years. It is shown more like thru action rather than words. Actually it's more of a cultural thing..

I called my mom to tell her I loved her after watching this. Best feeling ever. My great grandmother, her grandmother, just passed a few days ago so I think she really needed to hear it. Thanks for reminding me to remind others how much they mean to me! Everyone should be doing the same to their loved ones!

Alot of people saying the indian dad is a jerk. Um actually my dad is excactly like that, some people arent just good at expressing them selfs. Like my dad hardly says he loves me, but it doesnt mean hes mean, or a jerk. So??? I dont get why people are commenting acting as if they know the relationship between the daughter and father.

"I love you" is a very western thing to say on a regular basis. What Justin said at 0:42 is almost right on the money. Love for many east asian cultures are shown through actions, rather than words.
