“To be fair, my parents didn’t have anyone to compare me to ‘cause I was the best.” is such an American thing to say. Having lived all my life in Asia, even the best people in class or sports when I was growing up never admitted to being the best. 😂

Those gasps, 😮 and "omg" reaction when the "B in English" came up 🤣

As Asian parent, even though I didn't expect my daughter to be the best, sometimes I still compared her to her friends. "You only got 85 but your 'stupid' friend got 95? Your friend studied well but you only mock her while not study seriously. "

7:50 the American girl told a story as a joke, the Asian girls all showed trauma on their faces 🤣

Its not that ALL asians are short.
Its that Asians on _average_ are shorter than most.
This IS true, Ive traveled through asia and while I did come acros people my size (6'2) or even taller, most people were well below what Im used to.

I love Steven He's vids. I grew up in NZ but my dad's side is Chinese Irish mum's Maori Scottish. Mum was so chill she was 'So long as you did your best' my dad was like 'Your cousin did better'. My mum when I was little did make me learn piano, I lost interest and picked up drums in HS instead. But yeah like the one who grew up in Aussie, similar thing here, learn an instrument, play lots of sports, make friends and study. It was too much so I just went Drums, Basketball, Art and Science as my main focus the rest I let fly by me.

I finished my Master's Degree in January. It's been non-stop work for two straight years with that degree. Even got a perfect 4 in my last semester. Have a fever right now and my mom is literally screaming at me for not working. "It's cuz of that damn cellphone"

I was an English teacher in Japan for 14 years. They're not kidding about all the extra studying. I mostly taught at 'cram schools' (juku), which are extra schools after regular school. Many of the students I taught went to multiple juku for different subjects on top of having extracurricular 'clubs' at regular school. When I'd go home at the end of an evening shift, usually after 10pm, there'd be kids on the train fighting to stay awake, still in their uniforms because they hadn't been home yet. It's because the competition to do well on entrance exams and get into higher ranked schools is extremely high.
Speaking of school lunches, some of the schools I worked for had contracts with local public schools where I'd go to teach a few classes a couple times a week. If two of my classes fell on either side of the lunch break, they'd invite me to eat with one of the classes. I loved it. The teachers and kids were awesome and treated me like an honored guest. The food was amazing too. To me it was like restaurant quality Japanese food, just without the fancy trimmings.

I wish we had a russian and/or a middle eastern asian. People tend to forget that they are asian too.

As an American who grew up in the 70's and 80's, we had salad real mash potatoes. I think it changed in the mid 80's. Because our lunch was not that bad. And we had an hr to eat.

I'm South Asian, and was an average student. And once I scored 90+ for every subject. I was very happy and then my mom came to the parents' meeting. I had 98 for Math, only one question wrong and lost two marks.

I still remember clear as day, my mother's face turned dark and she told me, "You should've scored 100"... I never tried again so hard after that. I rebelled and did a loads of extra curricular activities to shape my personality and became popular in school and I kept being average at studies.

I'm a person who take things too hard sometimes and very emotional but I'm glad to be where I am today and what I did at school. I have good memories from school and now I'm a psychology student.

I'm always tickled when Steven He says something along the line of not being able to active Asian powers while casually doing the Naruto hand gestures.😂
