TURNING RED: Did You Know Why There Is So Much Of Color Green?

Hey Fanfeedz, Did you notice this in Turning Red, besides a massive Red color, was the subtle addition of the color green. The color green acted as a method for Mei's inner calmness to speak to her, like how Mei's Mom and her relatives all wear forms of green to represent their inner calmness. Because Mei never wore green, the color and the calmness it represented were shown in other ways. For example, in her room, she has green walls, and, throughout the film, every scene she was a part of was surrounded by green or had a green filter. Turning Red marks the feature directorial debut of Domee Shi, who previously won an Academy Award for her work on the Pixar short Bao. Set in Toronto, Shi's hometown, the film follows Mei Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang), a "confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother's dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence." While her mother (voiced by Sandra Oh) looms, Mei discovers that, along with all the other changes that come with being a teenager, she also has the power to change into a giant red panda when she gets too excited. As one might imagine, it gets a little awkward.
