This video provides a basic introduction to the geometry of involute spur gears. I originally started this video for my own use but as the video grew, I realized it may help others visualize the geometry of spur gear teeth.

The video starts by calculating the geometry of involute curves, then extends this to the geometry of gear teeth as they are cut on a rack. This then outlines a method for calculating the shape of internal involute gears.

such a great visualisation. could you please let us know what are the equations? and also what was the software for this visualisation?

This is by far the best visualization of a gear tooth profile being generated by a rack, thereby, producing a gear that will engage
with another gear regardless of number of teeth. It​ clearly and cleverly​ shows the involute and the trochoid undercut​ curve
being generated. Perhaps another followup video could show the Method and math to combine these two curves into points
for a spline intersecting at the OD and RD for CAD. Thank You !
