Awesome! I have this same exact Islander (1990) that I restored myself also. I ran the carter bbd for a bit, then tried out a Weber carb for a year or so and then installed a Holley Sniper fuel injection system and man it woke that 4.2 up! It’s great to see others showing love to YJs and bringing them back to life! Great job on her👍

Great job on diagnostics tracing spark & fuel. Smart just to replace components for dependability. Not a bad idea for a 30+ year old vehicle along with typical fluid & filter changes. You can easily get your $5K investment back out of a 6 cylinder Islander YJ with great body/frame. In OEM condition the "Squares" are going up in value ~ Enjoy.

IT RUNS! Great job! So, did you have all those parts on hand at one time (distributor, fuel pump, coil, etc.) or did you buy them one at a time when the prior fix didn't get the car started??? Seems like these would all need replacing soon anyway. Turned out nice!
