The Power of Doing Nothing: Dave Duarte at TEDxUCT

Why is it that productivity is associated with cramming more things to do into every square inch of our days? Our response to the increasing information stimuli and complexity is to work longer hours, take shorter breaks and multi-task. Dave Duarte, entrepreneur and lecturer at the UCT Graduate School of Business, believes that this is an immature approach. He argues that the key to being more efficient and more effective at what we do is to slow down, listen to our bodies, and make technology work for us.

I’m really struggling with not doing nothing. The only way I know to take breaks is check social media. I’d love to learn to do nothing but I don’t know if we’re capable of that. It was very cool of him giving the white blank space example, so relatable. I don’t get why this video has so little views, it deserves more

We see what we are looking for instead of what’s there.

Happiness might have been there all the time but in fact we may not actually enthusiastic in looking for happiness.

Instead we are looking for stimulations and complaining about not able to be happy.
