In this video, Garth Schulte covers Google App Engine and how it allows you to build reliable, scalable, and robust applications where Google handles the infrastructure in its entirety. He’ll discuss the available features, components, services, and the languages that are supported.

App Engine is Google’s Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering that allows you to build and run applications on Google’s infrastructure. The apps are easy to build, simple to maintain, and once you deploy it to the cloud, Google handles pretty much everything else. They staff the server admins, database admins, and network admins, allowing developers to focus almost exclusively on features. This makes for a much more streamlined development cycle. App Engine currently supports Java and Python completely, PHP is in preview, and Go is in the experimental phase. This platform is so well designed that you essentially just build, test, deploy, and then rinse and repeat.
