Excellent, to the point, instructional information! Thinking about one of these beasts. Seem very unreliable overall added to the pricey maintenance. I read up on fuel in US due to the constant problems with exhaust. Seems many problems with the Cat systems come (IMHO) from low cetane rating (40 to 45) of generally all diesel fuel. Add a conditioner, boost the cetane up, burns hotter, less particulates overall, engine combusts more efficiently everyone much happier. But another expense to keep the air clean & your truck running. Recommended oil change 7 to 10k. Again even the synthetics have tough time going that long without degradation. I think I personally would waste the money and go 5k at the most. Not practical for over the road but seems city driving harder on these babies as they are not being worked. Anyway thanks for the great video my friend. Your good, keep'em coming.

Thank you 1a auto for this information...it will help us ford diesel owner specially "diy" guys like me.

2017 ford f350 6.7L fx4 crew scorpion diesel always on duty...reporting at 74, 000 miles with only basic maintenance in my own garage. Tows our 10, 000 lbs. rv trailer twice a month in the Nevada desert and neighboring state.
Note ford diesel owners:
Bring your ford diesel to a dealer to have your engine block heater(if comes with factory) replace for free...(recall issues).

the egr cooler doesn't cool the valve it cools the exhaust gases entering the intake which cools combustion chamber temps which in turn reduces Nox

We recently had the fuel tank problem with our 2017 F350, when I posted about it on a Ford Superduty blog everyone said impossible the truck has a plastic tank and the problem was only with the models that had metal tanks??

Heat and time do cause those CAC tubes you referenced to blow, but I have also found excess pressure and heavy carbon build-up from clogged EGR coolers to cause failure. Either way, CAC tube replacement is a must. Good video! 👍

Thanks for the knowledge and quality content. I’m curious if you have done a video on the new 7.3 L gas engine? How many of these problems would also be on that engine? Thank you very much...

Great video. Best fix for these and likely other material Ford Diesel engine shortcomings is to dumb the truck.

Thanks for the video the information very helpful.. if is possible would you mind making a video about parts to replace for the better, and issues that we should pay attention on the late 90s, early 2000s, 7.3 super duties. Oh sorry almost forgot the magic word (. Please)))?
