Asian (especially China) always taught children to be respectful towards their parents like the wife need to respect their husband no matter what since early on. You can see the example on FL biological parent treatment towards FL. FL parents treated FL as commodity or tools for their business, not as their daughter, much less a person of their own identity and aspirations.
