Something is missing here. Where is the energy coming from to electrolysise the water?

There are dozens of these headline grabbing engines, not one in production . No car maker would pass up the chance to put them in a car and wipe out the competition.

Repetitive claptrap, graphics and PR for the easily deceived.

Our deepest wishes are whispers of our authentic selves. We must learn to respect them. We must learn to listen.

Not buying Toyota's claims at this moment .Need better prove than word salad.

How many times have we heard this claim from Toyota!? Even if the vehicle was produced it would take decades to get the infrastructure in place to fuel them and make them practical.

YOU SHOULD MAKE EV CAR THAT USE RADIO FREQUENCY TECHNOLOGY!

We all know that a fuel cell can produce electrical energy to power the electric motor of a car without any harmful emissions. But if you split water, the process is far from 100% efficient. Transport that hydrogen either compressed of liquified to a filling station and you loose more energy and if you are using liquified Hydrogen, you either have to accept looses due to evaporation or continue to use electricity to keep it cold enough to remain liquid. In your car there is the same problem. You have to continue to use energy or accept losses. Your hydrogen continually evaporates. Then the fuel cell and drive train are less than 100% efficient. If you use a heat engine as shown in your pictures, even less efficient. It has been estimated that you would need to generate three times the energy to power a car a given distance by this technology than you would use to simple sent the electricity by wire and charge your battery. As for home generation, a H pathway would be a nightmare while solar panels can easily charge your car.

So hard to listen to this when it repeats talking points and buzzwords over and over.
It could have been a 3 minute video.

Nothing new, it's just advertising, at each step of the various technologies we saw in the video the balance to produce energy is negative. We all know that in physics nothing is consumed/destroyed but transformed. To create energy you need to have upstream energy, a motion, thermal energy, mechanical energy, energy for electrolysis etc... etc... At each step therefore there is a cost to bear, and it is borne by the end user "always". Not all that they theorize is gold, at least for now. Maybe in a few/or many years their theory could become reality. For now it is enough to know that an electric motor immediately generates a motion according to the amount of energy that is supplied inside the motor. A few components are enough to create an electric car, a motor, an encoder and electricity, "inside a battery pack which is the most expensive part, therefore less technology than other generators". With 3 - 4 euros you can travel hundreds of kilometers. If we apply compressed air technology, Hydrogen, or other compressed gases, electrolysis or something else, not only will the technology be more expensive but it will also be more complex and more dangerous. It will be like sitting on a bomb. I could go on writing or talking for hours, but it would only be wasted energy. Best wishes to the gentlemen of Toyota, I hope they solve all the various problems especially those of cost. 😉 😉

Until you produce hydrogen where you use it and cheaply this will not happen - why would I want to use a combustion engine ? Electric motors are simpler and more reliable.

Why are you showing an animation of an internal combustion engine while talking about fuel cells?

joes cell was the first. and you can stick your sustainability crap.

Toyota will soon be a much smaller company, since no new gas engine can compete with an electric motor.
Been driving an EV for 6 year’s will never go back to gas.
