NOTE: This is all done on a Windows PC. If you or someone you know has a great tutorial for doing something similar to this on Mac, then comment on this, and ill stick a link to that tutorial in the video description :)

Hey, thanks for another video on a simple livestream setup. I'd followed your Reastream one, but after some updates it started glitching, and now this new Loopback method is even better!

Dude! This was it! As soon as you said Scarlett 18i8, this fixed my issue!!!

Thank you, perfect and now set up, I had a 2i2 3rd gen, no loop back, brought a 4i4 3rd gen which has loopback, now I do not have any latency issues using plugins (reastream), you saved me a lot of time, so glad your video came up near the top.

Since some people wonder how to solve this Problem on a Mac,
I found a workaround for this problem. You have to download a free software though. Its called BlackHole and its a virtual audio driver (You will be able to select this in OBS). One downloaded, you need to open Audio-MIDI-Setup on your Mac. One the bottom left corner, there is a plus icon. Click that and add device with multiple outputs. You can name this something like DAW to OBS or something. Then you have to set two arrows inside this Device, on for the Scarlett, and one for Blackhole.
Finally, in Ableton, select Blackhole as your output, as this is now both the Scarlett and the virtual audio driver.
All you have to do now is set Blackhole as a Audio-output source (not input, since this is technically audio leaving the computer) inside OBS and voila, you should hear Ableton inside OBS

DUUUUDE!!! Your video needs to be the first in effin SEO!!! Amazing. That "expose" thing was all I needed to know (after HOURS!!!). Almost returned a brand new 18i20 out of frustration. Following the channel and liking everything for support :)

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! You are the master Bacon-Saver! Exactly what I needed to record a music project using VCV (instead of Ableton)! It was that last bit with exposing the Windows Channel that made the difference for me. I had no idea that even existed!

Thank you so much for this. I upgraded to a 4i4, for the loopback feature, after many hours of trying to get my 2i2 to work. I set all the Focusrite settings, and your video was the first I came upon to complete the set up. Great job!

I've been through so so so many solutions for this that always inevitably fail for no apparent reason. I can't believe I never utilized the Loopback built into the Scarlett! Wow, thank you so much for this.

Thank you! I had a bit of a difficult time understanding loopback with ableton and windows.

nice, simple video. i was having a really difficult time getting other audio devices to have low latency through live -> obs. I picked up a 4i4 and got it to work well and very simply and this video helped a ton! One note for any future people watching: focusrite 3rd gen solo and 2i2 do not have loopback processing as far as i could tell from internet forums and product page descriptions.

Thanks a lot for the tip, works flawlessly. For me, the main trick was to expose/hide windows channels.

Works like a charm. Thanks for the tip! I use a Scarlett 4i4. No issues; soon as I recorded on OBS, the audio was clean.

Thank you so much!! I couldn't figure out why my very capable 18i20 could not seem to handle such a simple function. I don't know why Focusrite A: didn't make all the output options visible through Windows in the first place, B: hide this option in a separate even more obscure menu, C: not mention this anywhere in their setup tutorials.
