Venom's Relationship With Spider-Man Explained

Comics fans have long known Spider-Man and Venom to be the best of enemies, but people who know more about comic book characters from the movies that get based off of them have only gotten a little taste so far of their long history together.

Beginning as part of what was essentially a ploy to give Spider-Man a new, cool, black costume, the story of the Venom symbiote evolved to envelope much of the Marvel Comics universe. Spider-Man and Venom have fought each other and fought side-by-side, and like many on-and-off relationships, their feelings for each other are complicated. I just fell in love with the character development of both Eddie and the venom symbiote and how it has come full circle to where venom is now a full fledged superhero and finally becoming friends with spider man. The knull storyline that came full circle in King in black is some of the best writing I've seen in comics.

That's the Venom I remember. I stopped reading comics in the early 90's and now, it's all so different. The Venom in the movie will never be the Venom I remember. The movie wasn't bad, but it wasn't Venom to me.
