There aren't a lot of videos explained like this on this subject.
Great to see the thought process behind it.

Thanks for great videos! I think a video series about creating a simple open world game from scratch would be awesome!

I'm trying to do research to make a map in Unreal, and have NEVER done any of this before. I have some prior Blender knowledge (that I know is non-translatable here) but none in using Unreal itself. I will be putting together a documentation - and besides looking up tutorials and not having actually opened the engine yet I am working on this list to hammer out map elements and design. I'm not so much trying to 'design a game' as I am 'design/build a world'. Will be referring to your videos for expertise, and if anyone is interested in possibly working with me on this (NON-PROFIT, FOR FUN) in a capacity that you may hold more knowledge on certain subjects then me, I would be more then happy to discuss things with you. I joined the UE discord as well but things are a bit deep and fast paced there for someone as new as myself.

In your opinion, what do you believe is the best method for making a large (5x5k or more) Open world map, where the only instanced loads are say- dungeons? I.E. you can go anywhere else seemlessly, but when you get into a dungeon, you'd go through a big door- load.

Excellent video. I def would love to see more open world tutorials. I’d also love to see how master materials are set up for the grand scheme of things. Like does every object share the same master or should certain objects use a different master...especially the best way to do it in an open world scenario. Thanks UD! :)

Haven't checked your video playlist yet to see if you made that Tool video. It would save a lot of time, and probably should be the first thing a level/environment artist creates before starting the terrain/world work. I am working on creating a digital twin of my city to use in Bus Simulator 21 Mod. The terrain is not coming in for me. I have a DXF file of the regions roads, rails, water and shore line that I thought I could just use the splines to create automatic roads for me. That didn't work. So I downloaded 1km map that came in layers with the bottom layer being the Topography. So now I was thinking that I could use Houdini to recognize either the DXF Roads, or the DXF file containing the Area Map with Topography. Do you have a suggestion for making this work? I need the roads to be navigable. Would it be easier to put a nav mesh on the roads and stitch the topography layers together in 3DS Max or Houdini?

It's a map tutorial, but he just kept talking about mops. So confused. Now I need to figure out how to have a huge single shard map in an online game. Even worse... a browser game. The mop... I mean map... will have to be procedural, I guess.
