Having clear speech is important for effective communication, and the S sound is an important one!

I hope that your main strategy is REPETITION! But please remember, perfect practice makes perfect - so make sure to practice those S sounds correctly at the sound level ("ssssss") before moving on to words and phrases.

I'm teaching this to myself at 15. My mom never took the time to correct my lisp as a child so I'm correcting it now. I've almost got it.

Shoutout to all the adults here. If only our parents cared more

I am 19 years old. I’ve had a lisp my whole life. This video changed me. I am more confident now. The way I cured my lisp was learning how to say “s” behind my upper front teeth. To learn how to say “s” you start by saying “T” but expanding the “t” into “tsss” eventually you’ll learned how to say “s” it takes a lot of practice and time. Please don’t give up it took me 2 months of consistency.

I'm now 57, thanks to you I now finally know there is a name for my speech problem, and it is called a "lateral lisp". Before I die, I hope I can get rid of this problem that affected my self confident all my life. God bless.
I'm getting it too. But think I need to learn a new way to talk. Thanks again.

It’s so sad how many people are upset at their parents for not fixing there lisps. I just want to say I’m proud of all of you for doing your best and trying to self correct. Maybe they were just trying to love you as you, and didn’t have the knowledge to fix it, or tried but just didn’t make any progress. Honestly until you are ready to make the change it just might not stick. Props to this speech therapist for putting this out there and helping 100s of people of all ages to work on improving themselves.

My family have always made fun of how i pronounced it so I’m here to teach my self how to say it when my parents could have done that when I was younger..

Since everyone in the comments is saying how old they are and still trying to learn. It helps me feel better that I can’t say my s’s correctly YET. But this video really helped and I am happy about it.

My mom keeps saying my lisp makes me unique and she's upset that I'm trying to fix it. I'm upset because she never told me my teeth were supposed to stay like that!

You fixed the lisp that I've had all my life, and I'm 63. I remember in school the speech therapist would tell to make like a tunnel with my tongue and blow air through the middle. Well, I could never do it, and now I don't think anybody can, frankly. After watching your video I got in the habit of using the tongue down method. It took a while to get used to it, but now it feels natural and I do it all the time. One thing, I find that the sound is better if you put your lips in position sort of like you're trying to blow out a candle. Doing that seems to concentrate the air flow. Well, thank you!!!!

Thank you. I have been bullied for that s sound for my whole school years . But no matter what videos I searched they all were crap and you helped me very specifically for this problem. From now I can spell it clearly. And I am 18 by the way.

Hi. I am a speech-language pathologist and watching your video with one of my students during MTSS is helping him, along with me giving a play by play model and explanation. Great teaching tool ! We are in the beginning stages of an approximation. Thanks for posting from one speechie to another !

I’m 13 so this is really hard for me. I’ve been doing it wrong for 13 years so it’s hard to break the habit. This has helped so much. Thanks
