Any time my drill Sgt was yelling at me or giving me extra physical training or anything like that... I just reminded myself every time that she slept less than me and had no life outside of watching over all of us. 😅

I never thought that I'll see a Drill Seargent making a short with Bo Burham's "Shit" XD

I never thought about how much it sucks to be a drill sergeant in basic training until now, and now I realize why they’re mad.

Used to think I had it rough during yellow/red phase, then I learned that our drills basically got no sleep and started counting myself lucky that I got to bed down at 2000.

All these tiktoks have taught me one thing. Drill instructors are the coolest people on the inside

New DS: so how do you summon all that rage for Red Phase?
Old DS: Don't worry, it'll do that on its own.

I honestly had so much respect for the drills in basic. Everyone else just had contempt, but I, being observant, quickly realized that they were there later than us and we're there earlier than us. Legends, the lot of them.

It's an honor to be chosen for DS school, but for young NCOs, it's like asking I need 3 for a detail!

My dad was a DS and when he told me that this was 100% true even back in the 80s/early 90s. So when it was my turn I did everything I could to not give those sleep deprived DS a hard time. I learned so much from them.

Our drill sergeant stayed with us, and he told everyone that he didn’t have a family, he didn’t have a wife, and the army was the only thing that he loved. He stayed in the goddamn drill sgt office attached to our bay echo 1/19 fort sill.

When I was younger I always wondered how DS's were up earlier than we were to start our day out with chaos the way they did

Now many years later I understand they got to take out their anger on us and we never noticed they weren't there during certain periods of the day where I'm sure they were doing "paperwork" in their office

I remember like the second or third day of BMT, I realized our RDCs were getting less sleep than us. If they had time to get squared away before they even headed over, knowing they had to drive there, I had no excuse not to be squared away by the time we toed the line.

My drill sergeant was at the club every night. No joke. Dude was a straight G. Hahahaha.
Then my other drill sergeant went on 12 mile road marches for fun on weekends with a 50lb pack. Dude was a beast. Big ol Samoan.

Drill sergeant isn’t mad…. He’s just sleep deprived and you happen to be the reason 🤣

The faces you make are identical to the ones I do and that makes me feel good. Love the content 👍👍

As gratifying and rewarding it was to train the recruits, I don’t think putting my family through the mess of rarely seeing eachother was worth it. Glad to say I did it, but that 4am-9pm, 7 days a week schedule was detrimental towards the relationship with my family. Not worth it, I’d recommend being a RI or Recruiter. 💯

I served for about 9 years, and was never on the trail, but God dam do I respect and remember all my drill sergeants. Only love and respect for taking sloppy mother fuckers and turning them into professional soldiers.
