Our final video of the series for Scoliosis Awareness Month is the ‘Flower’, which is related to Arch and Flatten (movement # 5), and uses rolling arms like our previous movement, Washrag.

Start with your knees bent, and arms stretched out to your side. Open the knees, press down the tailbone, and arch, while rolling the arms away from the body and letting the shoulders press back and chin tuck. The full version of this movement allows the body to coordinate and integrate in a very somatic way.

One of the wonderful parts of Somatics, beyond finding ease and freedom in your body, is discovering what parts move, what parts don’t move well, what feels good and what doesn’t, and which side moves which way. We hope through this series you were able to learn some things about yourself, and feel better equipped to get your body moving comfortably! Thanks for following along this month.
