I'm Hungarian, living in Budapest! There are a few things I'd like to clarify. First of all, I really appreciated how you talked about the many sights! I generally love Budapest, though there are issues here sometimes too. Szentendre is my favorite place in the country; I think it's by far the most beautiful spot in all of Hungary! Many Serbs lived there, which clearly influenced the architecture. I highly recommend the Balaton Highlands and almost all of Western Hungary, where you can find stunning places and castle ruins!

Regarding infrastructure, I'd like to correct a few things: the Buda Castle may look Baroque or Renaissance, but in reality, many buildings in Budapest are historicist. For example, the Parliament is Neo-Gothic, the Matthias Church is too, and St. Stephen's Basilica is Neo-Renaissance, etc. This is because many famous monuments were built during the 1896 Jubilee! This event was a celebration of the country's 1000th anniversary, and there was large-scale construction to mark this extraordinary occasion. The Heroes' Square, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Kunsthalle, Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion, and many other famous Budapest landmarks were all built ina historicist style! Buda Castle has also been rebuilt many times; before World War II, it looked completely different (in my opinion, even better than now), but it was bombed and had to be rebuilt again! The bridges were also blown up!

Thank you once again for this great video, and thank you for not portraying Hungarians as a depressed, grumpy people! The only issue I have with the country is the politics, but that's our problem, and I encourage everyone to visit Hungary!

There was a factory (Tungsram ) That supplied a major amount of light bulbs for the world.I dont know if they still produce for United States as we have moved towards LED bulbs.Hungarian cuisine is amazing as well with Goulash being one of my favorites!Also a lot of castles and artwork cover the country from its early history.

Having been in Budapest for a week earlier this year I am happy to confirm all you have said. Going into the old part of Buda which is just across the river is like stepping back into a medieval city that has maintained it's character despite all the modern business's operating there. We stayed in a lovely little hotel just a few minutes walk from the central market, which is worth a visit in it's own right. Everything is within walking distance from here, many great bars, restaurants, the national museum, the river walks and that fantastic parliament building. If you go there, get there early as the tour tickets sell out quite quickly, we got there about 8:30 in the morning. The people are friendly, the city is enchanting and both myself, English, and my wife, Chinese, loved this city.

My wife is Hungarian. Believe it or not the Hungarians leave high school much more educated than we do in the US.
Most people are very poor so all they have is integrity so its not a place for passport bros. Its hard to smash unlike the Phillipines.

Beware Hungarian language is just about as difficult as Chinese to learn!

I know it well, both before and after the wall came down. It is basically like a beautiful house in a bad neighborhood historically. My former wife was from there. I got married there. She left. I offered to go back to Hungary with her even though it would have been a drastic career change for me but she declined. After all these years, she still does not know why she left me. It reminded me of another Hungarian woman, who was an architect and a friend of my Hungarian friend, who told me of her story. She fell in love with an Italian architect, who deeply loved her. She told me how she was sitting in their apartment in Italy, how everything was so beautiful, how much they loved each other....and then for some strange reason she wanted to preserve those moments that were so beautiful that she left the love of her life. I think it is a sad comment on a population that has been traumatized by much tragedy historically.
