If you are strong and weigh nothing then this is an ideal setup. Aero really matters when you are bombing on a bike. Can’t beat the reliability of a 1X

If you can have your bike completely rebuilt specifically for a race or even just a stage, by a team of professional mechanics with unlimited access to top of the range parts, it's inevitable that a 1x is going to be the best option on at least one occasion.

Also, because SRAM front derailleurs are undeniably temperamental.

The losses due to poor chain line at the extremes of the cassette must be close to the advantage of removing the front mech. On a tt bike you choose your chain ring based on the fact you’ll have an ideal chain line almost all of the time.

"quite significantly" is a confy sounding way of saying it saves you a couple of watts.

Number one reason, SRAM ist their sponsor and want to push their new group

The weight difference between Force and Red is insignificant compared to the loss of one front chain ring and the FD. I applaud Jumbo for being this bold.

50/36 is lower than 39/28 and if you had any less than 39/23 back in 2000 you were a wimp.

One step away from front suspension to improve comfort, clear fatigue. Then all it takes is a small skip to fully suspended 😅 welcome to the mountain biking master race, roadies

I love Campy and Shimano much better. Sram doesn't know how to innovate, so they just buy others that do. I don't understand this departure from front derailleurs. I love front derailleurs. Thanks.

Is the aerodynamic drag of a front derailleur really "significant"?

One by? No thx 🙋 I'll pass. But then im not a professional bike rider either. I'm usually in the 52 tooth chain ring, by far, but I thank God for the 36 tooth being there on the uphills. My 11 speed cassette is 28 - 11, mechanical Shimano 105.
I'm completely happy with my 2015 Masi Gran Corsa 💓 😁. Again I'm just a duffer 😐

It’s just for marketing purposes - any aero advantage of a single ring up front is probably lost by having a longer rear cage to accommodate the range needed at the back, chain line is not as good at either end of the cassette and that does introduce a measurable loss. The only advantage of a 1 X is reduced risk of chain drop

Surely not ok for mountain stages? Or is 50x36 fine on 15% if you're Jonas!?

I quite often go above 40 kph on a 1x12speed but I ride a recumbent and I am a little overweight

Front derailleurs are inefficient, clunky, etc.

Manufacturers have to move the market on to keep sales up, that’s all that’s happening here.

They ride what they are told to. Otherwise they wouldn't be riding hydro disc and thru axle.

what will be the advantage? To show othes how strong I am ? I need only one chaining infront...I will never understand ist, you must make a cassette with a lot of gears, which have so many distance between the gears....why for what ? Weight ? for professionals riders have to ride what is in their am couriuos what the riders say about the technic after their time in professional cycling....some years ago was a team theiy try to ride with one team blows off, and hear the inteviews what riders say WITHOUT getting paid !
