Verizon 5G Home Internet - Customer Review - Speed Tests - Unboxing - Initial setup

I recently became a customer of Verizon's new 5G Home Internet service promising speeds of 300 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up, for $55 per month, or even less if you're an existing Verizon customer.

This is the 5G cube made by Askey, model number ASK-NCQ1338. It operates using C band aka midband 5G on band 77. It's also a tri band Wi-Fi router supporting WiFi 6. You can also connect via the two Ethernet ports. Unfortunately there are no external antenna ports on either the outside or inside the box.

Verizon are still building out their 5G Ultra wide band service but it already covers 30 million households and will keep expanding.

I've been impressed with good speeds, low latency, low ping, low jitter and zero packet loss. I do a lot of video conferencing for work on zoom and it's working great. I didn't test WebEx, or Microsoft Teams but I don't see why they wouldn't work well either.

I was paying $105 per month for 300 down and 30 up with cable, and this is half that price.

I'm not a gamer so I can't speak to how good it is for playing online, but I'm using it without any problems with my work VPN.

It's exciting to see both Verizon and T-Mobile aggressively expanding FWA service, giving Americans more choice for internet instead of just cable and DSL through the phone company. While Starlink is also an option, it's really only as a last resort. Ground based systems have better reliability and predictability.

Verizon has no equipment fee, no monthly contract, and even offers a money back guarantee in your first month. If you're not happy return it for a full refund.

The Verizon 5G supports 5g on bands 2 5 66 77, but at the moment Verizon is only using band 77. This is known as midband or C band. LTE bands are also supported: 2, 4, 5, 13, 48, 66

I just switched to Verizon Home 5G internet and so far so good! I used to live in a major city so being able to find internet wasn't an issue. As a result, I got so used to consistent 700-800 mbps download/upload since I had fiber internet. But moving to a different city my options were quite limited. Aside from Xfinity and Satellite, there wasn't really any options. My family recently switched over from AT&T to Verizon so I checked if home internet was available in the area I am currently residing and it is. Although Verizon isn't the strongest as T-Mobile (my personal cell carrier) hovers from around 300-350 mbps download and 50-60 mbps upload. Verizon still comes pretty close at at 250-300 mbps download and 40-50 mbps upload no matter the time throughout the day. Pretty impressed so far, and with their best plan, it's only $35 a month which you cannot beat. More than fast enough for my personal projects and to be able to use it for gaming is a bonus.

We just pu verizon yesterday. We live in Rural Missouri. Only previous viable option we had was Broadband, which is over $100/month and got 7 mbs download max, 2 upload max, usually get 3-5 down 1 up (We streamed TV fine with few hiccups or buffering). With Verizon we get consistent 50 mbs down 8-10 mbs up! JUST AMAZING! We're switching to Phone plan and will drop to $25/month really soon!

I just signed with Verizon, so far the service is great, I was paying for the Blast service with Xfinity, but the speeds never really came up to the promised speeds, Verizon 5g matches their speed no problem and for less than half the price, and I didn't have to sign up for cable TV that I don't even watch. They always tell you they offer you so many channels, what's the point if I don't care about 95% of those channels. I was paying $180 to Xfinity, now I only pay $60 with Verizon.

Have have Verizon 5g for like 5 months now. It's super fast and almost never drops. Usually like 800 megabytes per second. Multiple streaming devises work at the same time easily. I live in downtown Houston and so get the one mounted on the window.

I had a crappy experience with self-setup. Customer service was completely clueless. Finally when I said it was "damn ridiculous" the final rep I spoke to hung up on me. It's going back.

I'm also in LV and just got the Verizon 5G home service, I'm also very impressed with the service thus far. It was great breaking up with Cox and paying $35 per month, saving me 50% off internet access costs.

Ok, stupid question but, do you have a cable that plugs into the box or is it a stand alone wireless box you just connect to wirelessly?? 🤔

Picked one up this week since you can literally see the new 5G tower from our window. I'm curious to see what sorts of speeds we get

Verizon just announced 10 year price guarantee. Verizon also said the wireless box should be mounted outside on a pole. That changes everything. Apparently, there are too many issues with the inside boxes.

Would I have to add a wireless router to it to get wifi or do I need it plugged into computer?

Very helpful, just got my cube today 30 Day trial. I’m hope to finally cut the cord. I only subscribe to cable for the Wi-Fi. Why do I feel anxious about Spectrum? If this works out, my Wi-Fi expense will go from $88 to $35!

Why my experience is so bad with Verizon 5G home Internet? I have been on 5G home Internet plan since this Apr, and got problem every month since, and it usually took days for the service to restore. I am going to switch to other providers now.

Competition is good for consumer. I was using cable internet until AT&T pulled fiber in my area. Couldn't be happier with new service.

Can you change the DNS on the modem? I have TMHI and you can not change of the IPV4 settings as the use CGNAT.

I have been using Verizon, here in the San Diego area, for the past 6 months and for $50 a month,
I am averaging speeds around 300-320 Mbps download and about 20Mbos upload. This is faster and cheaper than my previous cable internet provider, Cox.

Can this cube be connected to mesh router? Which means 1) connect it to router with Ethernet cable, 2) turn off cube wifi and only use router wifi.

Set mine up a hour ago and I'm setup over a Ethernet Cable and have it hooked up to my Xbox and downloading at 45/48 Mbps. We only have 4G LTE but I'm vary happy so far. We are also out in the country so even when they do get 5G Network congestion. I hope they keep improving and it's way more reliable then T-Mobile's home internet. Heck we are talking 30 to 40 milliseconds which is even better than AT&t's network and I'm a mile away from the cell site. It's 60 or 50 with auto pay. Mine is also not by the window and go through two walls before the outside and again the towers at 1 mile it says I have a full strong signal but I do have a question is there a way to log in through the UI and if so is there a way to check the signal strength within the device itself see T-Mobile's device was straightforward but I'm not for sure how you do it on here interesting thing also is when I'm connected through Xbox to look at the network settings I haven't opened that usually on any other carrier that I've ever did on a mobile hotspot it's either a moderate to a strict NAT type so this was a big surprise to me cuz even on T-Mobile I had a straight net on their home internet so this is actually kind of cool no port forwarding or anything needed
