a small trick you can try to lessen or eliminate these incidents would be to buy a programmable plug/outlet from your local hardware store or Walmart. You can program it to shutoff for a minute or two early in the morning just give the unit a fresh reboot everyday. Plug the power supply into the outlet and set it for like an hour before you wake or start working for the day. These reboots serve to "clear the cache" so to speak and also allows the unit to install any updates it may have recently received.

I experience occasional disconnects when devices are idle, such as computers asleep overnight. I quit and start Wi-Fi and am immediately reconnected. Since these are cellular devices, I have taken the step of going into the Verizon app once a week, approximately at the same time, and restarting the router from the app. This is similar to restarting a cell phone to clear the cache and any glitches accumulated. Using the app eliminates the need to physically unplug/plug the power supply. My typical speeds are generally around 320 Mbps down and 15 - 20 Mbps up. The speed, reliability, and data allowance far exceed the T&T DSL service at 5 Mbps download and 150 GB monthly allowance I had before. I don’t do video calls, so occasional interruptions are minor inconveniences. I too picked up VHI in December 2022.

To improve reliability and speeds/up time, you can use an external router and turn off the WiFi on the Verizon router itself.

Had mine for about two weeks now, only rebooted it once speeds are excellent, I see almost no difference between this and Spectrum Cable Internet but Verizon costs less than half every month.

Mine went down last night for the first time. Restarted it and problem solved. I think I’m going to restart it every morning before I leave for work. Not ideal, but for the money I’m saving it’s worth the 5 seconds it takes to unplug/plug it back in.

Thanks for the review. I think it's time to regulate internet service as a utility. Nobody would accept power or water companies changing their rates all the time, not having near 100% uptime and poor call center support.

I ordered this today as my backup to my Comcast, which is reliable. But when Comcast is down it can be for a few hours. My wife and I both work from home so his hopefully be a great backup if needed. The 5-year Verizon price cap means I do not have to worry about an increase for a while.

Internet is so gianormously expensive now with cable, I can foresee people will be going this route in droves. Myself included. Currently paying over $160 per month on local cable with no download cap, provider is COX. I am going to order this and silently switch it out to see if my family complains or not. If not, then dumping COX, thank you for the review.

Thank you for the clear and honest report! I'm moving to a somewhat rural area and will be giving this a try. I feel like it's a better option than satellite internet.

I’m still enjoying my VHI. Have had it about 6 months. No interruptions. And speeds of 300mbps plus. How do you reboot? Through the App or just unplug and plug back in? Thanks for keeping us updated.

I'm in Vegas. Verizon and T-Mobile home 5g both were lousy with constant outages. This was last year, perhaps I will give it another try if they offer a trial period to test if their service is acceptable.

I have about 99% uptime. Speed and latency has improved in the last couple of weeks; I assume from the FCC allowing providers to activate the bands they acquired.

I have mine for 5 months now and I reboot once a week to avoid slowdowns. Seems to work. I have the ASK model. Set it to pass through mode (green light) and use a new Netgear router. I have 3 TP Link Deco X55 mesh set up as access points after the router for wifi. I turned the radios off in the router. So far, on ethernet, I average 345 mbs. Very satisfied. Signed up for $45 a month and $200 gift card. Up load speed is about 20 mbs. Which is fine for me. Wifi is about 300 mbs. Still good.

Lots of YouTubers suggest to call Verizon as if a live person is actually waiting for the call. Perhaps a video showing "exactly" what number they are dialing, then how many hoops they have to jump through.

I’m only getting 3 g speed but I’m ok with it for the price

Would you know why I suddenly started getting one bar on the Verizon modem?

Have now almost a week. So far I'm happy with it. Have the 5G Home Plus plan and get between 300-350 mbps download and 20-30mbps upload. I've kept my slow DSL, just in case. I have many many WiFi devices, question, I understand to use the same SSID and password on Verizon as I have on my DSL. When I was in trial period for T-MOBILE, I did this but it kept connecting to my slow DSL. Was I doing something wrong and is this something I can do without have to change each device (that would take me 1/2 day)?
