Avatar Masks allow you to isolate parts of a model's anatomy, allowing the rest to ignore an animation. This game be useful when you want to layer or combine multiple animations. In this video you will learn about avatar masks and how to create and apply them.

Thanks for sharing, the masks work very well with humanoid and also with generic rig on animals, also with the rigging package, we had never any problems.
It's amazing how easy it is to import custom bones on individual animations, make dynamic bones or just mask FK Animation (with and without masks). Also, very handy are avatar masks when having lots of additive layer blending.
There is a lot of work to be done until the character rigs are clean, but once they are good it works flawless.
The rigging package and generally the animator are a masterpiece, Great Job Unity!

imagine a humanoid with tails.. Why not just show how it works instead of imagining? Let's imagine I already finished my game and it's super cool. These tutorials should be redone very much

Its sad how the torso humanoid part is one big piece, it should be split into upper and lower torso. :)

Yeah I'm going to have to say that this wasn't enough of an explanation, it would've helped if you guys showed us what it looked like... I'll just have to spend time figuring it out on my own, or give up....

I've done exactly this before watching this tutorial, and it seems like what I've done was actually right, but why am I still getting weird behaviors on the character's animation? This tutorial did not help at all.

Wäre schön gewesen hätte man das gesicht noch mal extra getrennt gehabt, aber an so etwas denken natürlich nur profis oder wie? 6 jahre seither und ihr habt das immer noch nicht eingebaut?

Theres no way to control individual humanoid bones (like shoulders, forearm, hips, spines, hupper chest, etc). It's either the whole trunk or nothing. Very limited. Masking with Humanoid is a complete joke.

It's amazing how in 9 years there have been zero improvements to Avatar Masks.
The interface today is exactly as bad as it was 9 years ago.
Goes to show how much Unity cares about its customers.
