Totally random but what about this cat theory:
The beldam and the cat used to be normal humans that owned the pink Palace and the blue boy was their kid and when he died they would constantly argue and eventually got cursed...the beldam would lure children in but the cat tries to help them so that he doesnt loose any other children like what he went through. The reason why he can pass through both worlds without being a target to the other mother

I think maybe the cat is coralines conscious, spirt animal or guardian bc when she’s walking around the world in the OTHER world, the cat warns her bout the bedlam 😮

I know the real meaning of that boy and the black cat: so the real meaning behind the black cat and the boy is so the boy can’t go out of the fake world and the cat can’t so my theory is that their souls are connected because like the boy never got captured until later in and the black cat was then not seen in a long time so maybe they are connected from blood
