Great acting by her. Love the intensity and nervousness.

I knew a real estate appraiser when then was unfolding. I asked him essentially the same thing "How can you just keep giving the inflated appraisals? When you must know the numbers are bogus?' He answered " I'm getting paid $ 600.00 per appraisal. I'm processing three appraisals a day out of my home office. If I don't give the banks the numbers they want, they'll use someone else. I'm not giving up a half million dollars a year to stand on principle." His wife worked for Countrywide, and was processing the "liar loans" ( stated income) Between the two of them they were making almost a million a year. Prior to the bubble they never made more than 100k combined. It was insane.

The symbolism of her wearing glasses that made her look blind, but she was perfectly capable of seeing was a great touch.

That’s not hypocrisy, she was committing fraud while they were holding a short position. They were gambling for a market crash, not manipulating it

Good symbolism with the glasses. "See nothing know nothing"

"What, are you 4?" A bit of Michael insulting coming out there.

Arguably, the best scene in a great movie. It's the moment of Truth for the 'Good Guys" in the movie. The Irony of the blind woman showing the men the Truth of hypocrisy ... No one said the Truth is a happy one. Great story ... Great movie ... not a happy ending.

Hahha I love how she’s blind to what’s happening, literally and figuratively

Love how she tries to deflect the questions and avoid

As good as the movie is, the book is even better! The book breaks down how the bonds were constructed by 6 figure to 7 figure quants specifically to obfuscate what was really in them and to skew their true risk. They also held back some of the granular loan level data and they themselves created the risk models and gave them to the ratings people lol. The 5 figure people at the agencies never had any hope of genuinely assesing the quality of the bonds. Seriously, read the book, it's really good.

I mean, there’s CLEARLY no conflict of interest when a bank pays... er... I mean... hires a rating agency to rate them, right...?
What could go wrong...🙄

"is it in YOUR BEST INTEREST to have the ratings changed?"

Uh, it's in mine and everyone's best interest to have the ratings correct.

What a great scene. Classic example of a person deflecting the questions, covering up for her lack of diligence. She should have been put in jail

Perhaps you could check your friend". 😂😂😂

Of all the people in the film, she most represented those who were caught up in something beyond their control, and knew it, but also knew they were hopeless to do anything about it.

Jeremy Strong flew under my radar until I saw The Gentleman and now he’s one of my favorite actors currently after watching Succession
