Roland blew it. Everybody wants a STANDALONE D50 VST. Nobody wants a subscription service "sticky" product.

thanks for the review, excellent job! if you are curious to hear them head-to-head, then I have a D50 versus anthology shootout on my channel.

This is a "no go" for me! I would buy but never rent !

I don't understand why everyone is so upset about this. Subscription is just the way the world is going, it ensures they get revenue. Its much more stable in the day and age where everyone is just cracking software - I quite frankly completely understand why they would want to do it. Also, not all of us are lucky enough to have a D50 and with a limited supply of working units this perfectly sampled collection is very exciting. I dont want a ton of additional features, I can call up my effect vst's for additional fun. I want a honest re-creation no bells, no whistles. Good job Roland, you have my support.

If the rental scheme allows me to (for a daft example) rent for August, have a break, then rent again for (say) November and December, then have a break etc etc, I'd be happy to go with it. What I will NOT do is rent software for month after month when I may only use it for a few days at a time.

Slightly confused by your description. You say that they have made many virtual synths like the SH 101, which is analog, and then you mention a System 1000, which I've never heard of. If you look back historically, Roland has repeatedly sampled and resampled their Jupiter series synthesizers as well as many others and offered them for sale. Regardless of these points, this is a great review and thank you for offering it. :-)

This is nice to have but basically it's nonsense. Korg have already shown everybody how it's done by creating VST versions of the M1 and the Wavestation.
They both sound awesome. I've been waiting for VST synths from Roland for a long time but I guess it's not gonna happen.

So I presume still better look for a D550?

This is not a D-50 VST. It is the Anthology 1987. Perhaps there will be a D-50 VST but this plugins not it. This should never be mistaken for a D-50 soft synth.

Hi! this Roland D50 vst is compatible with fl Studio 12?

Yap a Rompler ... I will just stick with UVI. I have compared the software with the D50 and the software sounds retrained.

Forget it Roland I'm not renting VST's from you lol. Why don't you reissue the great hardware synths you use to make, you know .. all metal chassis with solid knobs and sliders, and the great feeling keybeds you use to have. Then I will give you money again.

So this thing is subscription only? Gross. I've always wanted to mess with the sounds of the D-50. But I would never bother subscribing.
