Roland Cloud Legendary Synths

A first look at what's on offer from Roland Cloud 4.0. More a stream of consciousness as I explore these instruments for the first time as part of a "live" YouTube stream. Lots of waffle, not at all professional, but hopefully giving a good idea of what you get.

It is really cool that there finally is a vst of the Juno 106, but I do not accept Roland's subscription bussines model.

I think Roland cannot use the name "D50" due to a copyright litigation of that time, not because they are saving the name for the future.

Would I be able to buy the Jupiter -8 on line and use it on Fruity Loops for a VST ? How much would it cost ?

The presets themselves are not the originals. The Arturia plugs sound better and the entire package is about the same as a year of this. The cloud is a great concept, but $30 a month for this is a joke. Also the Plug-Outs are only 16/44. So many things wrong. I was going to buy the System 8, but this might have changed my mind.

The subscription based model for VSTs is a failure to understand the targeted consumer demographic on basic a psychological level. G.A.S. (Gear Acquistion Syndrome) is the primary motivating factor that drives the people being marketed toward here to reach for their wallets. It's what drives composers to buy 14 different piano libraries that all pretty much sound the same. There's something about BUYING and OWNING new gear that gives composers and musicians that addictive rush. No one wants to Netflix their musical instrument collection. This Roland Cloud service is a bogus business model and Roland is missing out on a huge opportunity here. Everyone in tech needs to stop thinking they're Steve Jobs by telling consumers what they want and how to want it. Maybe try researching your core consumer base. Apologies for the rant...
