I think the biggest issue for Apple’s 10th gen iPad is there’s just too many better options. There’s the old but gold iPad 9th gen they’re still keeping around for ~$300, then there’s the refurbished iPad Air with A14 chip for ~$400 with Apple Pencil 2 support, then there’s the M1 iPad Air for $600 (much cheaper is you look for deals), then there’s the M2 iPad Pro for $800. If you want a good deal, just get the 9th gen ipad. If you want something better, get a refurbished iPad Air or iPad Pro. There’s just too many compromises for this new 10th gen ipad.

Just got my mom one of these after her 5th gen regular iPad suddenly died. She absolutely loves it. I went for this over the 9th gen for a few reasons. The upgraded chip will help her use it longer. The all-screen design is just more appealing to a lot of people. Landscape audio is very nice when watching content. The new front camera placement is a welcome change for a lot of her uses. And while it may seem minor, the overall design refresh makes it more exciting for her. It just feels like more of an upgrade, and she also loves the blue color. Overall, it was worth the extra money to me instead of just replacing it with a 9th gen that wouldn’t have looked that different from her old iPad, and I don’t think would have given her the same joy.

The 10th Gen iPad does not scratch the itch people had. People wanted a refreshed base model iPad for around $350. This is an entirely new iPad that sits above the base model iPad that will eventually trickle down to the base model over the years and replace the 9th Gen. People should either get the base model if they're on a budget or get the Air on sale or used.

Here in Japan the base configuration starts at ¥68, 800 because of the exchange rate, yet within the country itself that price is multiple magnitudes above what even a mid range tablet would cost. Apple has made a very bold decision to price the new iPad at a converted rate rather than a local market one, especially here where salaries have basically remained stagnant for over a decade.

I still like using my outdated 9th gen iPad. It works great for me! And my color selection is the case. 😂

I just ordered one. I had no idea about apple pay. Im excited to finally be able to get one. I have a typical android, but i feel like the ipad is a better value along side my phone. Thank you for the great video. :)

Here in Germany it’s around 579 Dollar … that’s crazy for a base messed up IPad not supporting Apple Pencil 2.

I wish Apple would bring back the home button on iPad. My son can navigate iPads with a home button, but doesn't have the coordination to intentionally do multi-touch on iPads without home buttons. I know technology changes, I just wish it wasn't so ableist in direction.
