How To Build A Mini Shed | Including Build Plans!

We will build a simple lean-to-shed design with our friend Carlos from the YouTube channel Everyday Shed. This design could fit several different uses as the footprint is roughly 3.5' x 5.5' but for us it will be a storage location for a garage and recycling totes. This design is also great for the side of your house to store yard tools or get a little more space freed up in your garage.

I don't care if it makes me sound like a completely incompetent dork but that plan for building the doors just blew me away. What an awesome project. Going over to subscribe right now.

Your timing is excellent. This is exactly what we've been talking about making. Thanks to you both!

Watching this for a generator cover and for a place for large deliveries. Thank you!

Something I just recently found out about pressure treated lumber. There is 2 types. One for ground contact and the other not for ground contact. Check those tags. The ones touching the ground need to be rated for ground contact or they will rot quickly.

I love the idea!! I need a small shed in my backyard for my veggie garden equipment. I will build one at some point. However, I do not feel comfortable with skill saws. I may buy a small Project DIY razor saws or try and use a hand saw, which would probably take me forever

I would slope the roof to the back instead of the front. You don't want a puddle and erosion in front the the shed making it harder to get the trash bins in and out. And it also allows the doors to be taller which makes it easier to get the bins in and out.
The only time I'd want it sloping forward is if I was putting up against a wall. In that case you don't want rain water running down behind.

And if you live where I live, you get to install ground anchors so a hurricane doesn't turn it into a battering ram for some house or vehicle.

OMG excellent video tips. If your watching a How to Video most likely you need lots of tips.

Nice shed! But wouldn't it be better to have the slope point towards the back of the shed so when it rains water isn't pouring down on YOU as you open the doors?

Looks like you can rest a 4' X 8' sheet of plywood nicely atop that Cybertruck on the street.

Awesome idea! Great video!
Could i make this, but half as tall, for storing lawn mowers outside during winter?
Or... Should (gas) lawn mowers be stored in a heated garage?

surprised about the door. My 2x4 wood treated gate seems to expand and contract during the changing of the seasons and I can imagine this door may be getting difficult to open and close in the near future. Rebuilt the gate and left half an inch for expansion since the old gate just rubbed and hit the post on the latching side.

I like the look and simplicity but I think you’ll have problems with the doors after one season. Couple of reasons but the main one, your door gap is simply the saw kerf, which is probably 1/8” at most. I can’t see that being maintained outside for long. The platform will shift slightly with time since it’s not on concrete and the frame will shift because of that and because the wood will dry etc., eventually I would guess the gates will sag with time and bind. Even if the frame is stable the gates will sag eventually because you don’t have any cross members, 1/8” gap is not enough for outdoor gates imo, but maybe I’m wrong, either way it can easily be modified and it’s a great build.

would be cool to make it so you put the cans in with the front facing "back" of the shed, and then have steeper sloped roof and put hinged doors so you can push them open, lift the lid, and toss in a trash bag.

I built one and have been living in it as a tiny home for a few months. Getting a little stinky just before trash day but nothing different than inside my trailer.

Would you recommend storing some of my outdoor lawn equipment like my 40v snowblower and lawn mower in there?

Isn't it a bit short? How do you lift the lid to pop a small bag in there without pulling the whole bin out?

Should a wood structure be sitting right up against those electrical boxes?
