Critical Angle Of Attack - [Are you sure you cannot stall at high speed?]

This video is about the Critical Angle Of Attack.

Before talking about the Critical Angle of Attack we need to understand what the Angle of Attack (AOA) is.

By definition, the AOA is the angle between the wing chord line and the relative airflow.

The Chord Line is the imaginary straight line that goes from the leading edge to the trailing edge of your wing.

So the higher the pitch angle the higher will be your angle of attack.

The Critical Angle of Attack is the AOA that produces the max lift coefficient, however, if you overshoot the critical angle of attack your wing will stall regardless of the speed.

This is so because due to the high Angle of Attack the airflow won't be able to stay attached to the upper surface of the wing thus leading to a stall.

Normally, the critical angle of attack is between 15 to 20 degrees depending on the aircraft type.

There is a close relationship between the Manoeuvring Speed (Va) and the Critical Angle of Attack, the critical AOA is constant and the Va changes depending on the gross weight of your aircraft.

Make sure you check the YouTube video I made regarding the Angle of incidence and AOA in order to get a deep understanding of this topic:

Thanks for your wonderful video, I am 99% percent agree with this part. But sorry, I have to say one thing, the actual situation should contain the induced flow angle so that we can get the real AOA of the airfoil. That means the relative wind is not on the flight path line, and this different create a huge factor of stall.

Crystal clear. The critical angle of attack creates a vortex in the upper surface of the wing, causing the airflow disconnect, so to speak. Is that it?

can we also say its the angle between pitch attitude and flight path angle ?

if you are in a steady climb your aoa can be zero . is that right ?
