Hi. In this video, we look at what are slats and the influence it has on the critical angle of attack. We see how slats allow an aircraft to fly at low speeds and at higher angle of attack. We also look at the types of slats and focus more on the type which is commonly used on modern aircraft. We see what is meant by critical angle of attack and how it changes when slats are extended.

It seems to me only larger jets, maybe some regional jets, or business jets have slats. Other aircraft just have flaps. On the trailing edge of course. Less weight and complexity if its not really needed I guess.
