Still/stagnant water is the perfect breeding ground for bugs, bacteria, viruses, etc. Least safe to swim in or drink from.
In a survival situation, its preferable to drink from a stream, as the flowing water doesnt allow for AS MUCH bacteria to breed. Still wise to boil it and filter it if you can.
