How To Become A Sikh?

How can you become a Sikh when your mind has been conditioned by your environment and the true essence of a Sikh has been diluted to fit societal expectations.

To lose the ego and pride you have acquired as a result of culture and society take time to reflect upon what the Guru is really teaching you about the innate qualities a Sikh should have.

I was not born into sikhi. I'm just over a year into my journey in learning about Sikhism. It's difficult, challenging when it comes to changing the programming I was given. However it's so releasing from burdens, freeing for the soul, full of love for the world. 🙏

Naam japnaa, kirat karnaa & wand chakna… I’m doing that now. I recite waheguru all the time, hopefully in 10 years I can improve 🙏🏼

when you accept reality/truth as your guru and listen to the hukams being given to you from the guru you become a sikh in the footsteps of great sikhs like baba nanak

Thats beautiful❤

it is difficult and challenging for me even though born into a Sikh family we are into doing things rather than fixing things, reprogramming is not easy, Sikhi is like a thin wire where i fell many times and try to come back into Sikhi and my saad sangat help me alot. And not realising that i have an ego, anger, greed, pride but thats what i need to deal with and learn it🙏.

I didnt know about Gurbani much now i am understanding what actually Gurbani means and i will continue my journey to learn Sikhi.

I am in New Zealand...i am 77 years old and I am a European New Zealander....I have embraced Sikhi for over a year now and obviously have much to learn...I am slowly learning Pubjabi and learning how to let the guru come to me and I enjoy attending gurdwara on Sundays...I may be wrong but I get the impression that the Sangat are somewhat suspicious that a "white" New Zealander should embrace the Sikh way of please....

WELL Said Satpal Ji, As usual you speak straight, some like it and some don't. Most of the people are more proud of their Surname rather than their first name and most people like to have the number plates of their Surname rather than first name or they will have written at rear of car. Why? Most people try to be know by their last name rather than first name. Why?
Is it Pride/Ego ?

I live in Asheville NC, and wish to become a Sikh. Sadly, there is no Grudwara near me.

Great. Yes, when I do that & if I share with others, then most of the time, I hear, " No no, there is Duniyadai"
