$23.00 for a piece of chicken and a scoop of mac-n-cheese and collard greens? Whoa. Ima stimulate my own economy and cook it at home. Lol

Idk why I’ve always hated it on food shows when the host asks “what’s the secret ingredient?” Like bruh... 😐

I'm sorry but there ain't no way I'm spending $23 on 2 fried chicken pieces no matter how good the quality is

Herrine, being from the South and a Korean, knows what fried chicken is. Her parents are so cute wanting to see her at work.

Yes, bring back Alana!!! I like the fact that they're different so they don't always agree. It makes things interesting

Mary Mac's is a staple and you know it's good when you see black church moms on Sundays standing in line! Even in the rain y'all 😂

I am very happy to see this review of Mary Mac's Tea Room. I grew up in Georgia, lived in Atlanta for 15 years and actually worked at Mary Mac's in the early 80's. The best part of working there was getting a meat and three at a discount each shift. I still recall the first time I ate there, several years before I would wind up with a part-time job there. On a vacation to Atlanta last year, I made sure to take my partner, my brother and my nephew there for lunch. It was truly the best meal of the trip for me. There were two women that were still there from when I had worked there way back then. Thank you again for reviewing Mary Mac's and choosing them as one of your winners. I will try to check out Busy B and JCT the next time I visit, though. I will just HAVE to find - or cook - some fried chicken real soon!

I know that a lot of people on here are a little dismayed by the cost of $23 for a 2 piece chicken plate, but it is about the experience and expertise that goes into each dish. This is the reason that this is one of the top places in Atlanta to eat soul food. I do not know anyone from Atlanta and loves fried chicken that would even mention KFC in the same sentence with any of these places. Fast food places like KFC while good at times, offer mass production products. The food at these places are fresh and are top notch and deserve a try if you visit the area.

I think JCT was the choice winner in this competition. To have a french touch to it, it completely looked southern and so did the sides to match not to even mention the flaky southern style biscuit. Yum....Yum😋

Takeaways? 1) These two play off each other extremely well. 2) Gus’ Fried Chicken would save their lives. 3) It’s time to bring Alana back on a full time basis. She is HILARIOUS. This show can be done in a trio format no problem.

Just two pieces for $23.00. A rip off. I’m not going there

Who else wanted fried chicken after this?

I love how we’re now calling it “southern.” Baby this is SOUL FOOD created by and originated by BLACK AMERICANS. Thank you very much.

Realistically you can make a crunchy juicy chicken using a flour cornstarch mix and a salt brine. But for consistency and flavor it’s all about seasoning a consistentcy
