I think a lot of people don’t realize salt dissolves in a different way than many other substances. When you dissolve sugar, you still have whole sugar molecules floating around, but with salt, there’s no sodium chloride molecules floating around, it goes from big crystal right to individual ions. People expect there would be a bigger reaction if that was the case, but forget the ions react differently than their regular elemental form.
