As we heat a substance, we see an increase in the speed of the particles as well as an increase in the space between particles. As we cool a substance, we see a decrease in the speed of the particles, as well as a decrease in the space between particles.

This is not correct and reinforces a very common misconception that students have. You show a very high pressure gas - not a liquid. Particles should remain in contact in a liquid.
