We might have invested so much hope in the latest gadget, but then discover you need a PhD in engineering to set it up. Or it turns out you don't need the gadget at all and it gets put away in a cupboard never to surface again.
And then there are all those spectacular tech misfires that haunt us - remember Google Glass, Microsoft Vista, Apple Newton or Amazon Fire Phone?
This series is all about the technology we think we need but it turns out we don't. It's about the gadgets that are designed to make our lives simpler, but in truth do the opposite.
