There are plenty of reviews of this monitor from a gamers perspective, not so many from a Productivity perspective, so I think it’s a valuable contribution you make by doing so.

Thank you sir! sharing your detailed experience with the Odyssey Neo G9 after a full year! I've been eyeing this monitor for a while now, and your long-term feedback is exactly what I was looking for! More power to you my guy! Cheers!

Bought this monitor three weeks ago and I use it 80% - 90% of the time for work where it is very helpful to be able to reference multiple documents at once. Text appears super sharp. The games I do play are mainly single player story driven games (most of the time with black bars on the side of the screen). If I want to play call of duty or Fortnite I will usually just use the Xbox. So for me, so far, it has been a great experience. I am in the process of buying a new desk and I do agree that figuring out the best desk layout for aesthetic and practical purposses is a big challenge. Especially if you have bookshelf speakers.

I have the 49" version and agree with most of your points. For me, the worst part is games that don't support the aspect ratio. I've been playing Space Marine 2 in a 16:9 window in the middle of my monitor and it really sucks, especially with how close the camera is in that game, it would be amazing to have some extra peripheral vision. Other times games do "support" it but crop the screen in rather than giving you extra vision on the sides, Overwatch is an example that comes to mind, it's like being permanently zoomed in and you can't see what's going on above you.

Even when games do support the aspect ratio, the image gets distorted on the sides and makes things look way larger than they actually are. If you're focused on the center and are just using it for immersion it's fine, but something good to know if you've never used a super-ultrawide before.

With the 4K version I can see another issue being the sheer number of pixels you have to push, even a 4090 with DLSS isn't going to get you anywhere close to the 240Hz maximum refresh rate for modern games. At least with the 1440p version there are fewer pixels than a normal 4K display so you can make use of the high refresh rate.

Some hints in case you're using Macs. I bought this 2 weeks ago and returned it. I used it on a Mac Studio. The problem with MacOs Sonoma is that you cannot effectively scale the text for menu items, only apps. They end up being very tiny + I'm getting old. I also tried with a PC (windows 11), which worked much better, but I can't get the screen back far enough even with my 29" deep desk. I returned it for 2x49" Odessy Oled instead. I dig the extrawide vs 2x27"!

Supposedly LG is updating their 21:9 45” displays to “5k2k” next year which will be a *chefs kiss* size—especially the physical height / vert pixels

I feel like productivity and racing Sims are the best uses for this screen. Given that the natural human fov is 5:4, this wide field of view can be awkward as you have said.

For gaming you would set 32:9 window to the middle of the screen, fullscreen mode is wild.

I experience persistent eye strain after using this monitor with MacBook Pro for about an hour, especially with non-HiDPI resolutions (anything above 3840x1080). The maximum scaled HiDPI resolution for the MacBook Pro M4 Max is limited to 3840x1080. Additionally, the curved screen seems to distort my eyesight, making a normal flat monitor feel as though the curve was reversed, even the next day. Strangely, I haven’t seen any independent reviews mention this issue. Given these problems, I’d advise against buying this model for Mac users.

I’ve been daily driving this monitor for almost a year and there’s nothing comparable. Upgraded from the Lenovo 5k2k screen and it’s been amazing.
I hope they’ll continue to improve the screen in the next iteration. On my wishlist:
- USB C with PD so I don’t have to have use a separate TB4 dock
- Build quality is fine but not for this price point. My Lenovo feels much sturdier (P40w20).
- Scaling on Macos is not possible because of the 8k framebuffer limit so you'll have to use PbP if you want any scaling. But I guess it's more of a macos issue.

Could you please link the curved light bar you are using above the monitor?

what is the size of your desk? I'm particularly interested in the desk since I'm wondering whether my desk will provide sufficient distance for this huge monitor. My desk has a depth of 75 cm, what do you think?

Question, you have the 2090 but no hdmi 2.1k so you never get the full 2x 4k resolution. To achieve this you need Amd 7900 xtx to get true 2x 4k resolution with hdmi 2.1. The text will be better to read

I have Alienware 38 Ultrawide, using it for productivity/programming.

Both 57 and 45 inch are larger in terms of vertical height. Will you recommend the 45 over the 57?

What is that in front of your monitor? Looks like some kind of blower...

I have mine for a little over 11 months now. I love it still. For the gaming aspect, I play it at 4k/2160p while having YouTube or productivity software on either side. A few games look amazing on it if UI isn't an issue and the full screen is draw-dropping. But for the most part, I prefer Windows mode (I'm a weirdo, I guess).

Now, for productivity and multitasking, this will be my main monitor for a decade or two unless dual 8k is a thing for this form factor. I would like it a bit taller, but that is just me. It is a killer upgrade from the Neo G9. I was holding back because the price was too high, and dual 1080p was meh. As soon as this one came out, I knew I had to have it. Samsung Arc v2 would have been my second pick, but I didn't like the built-in OS. I just wanted a monitor, not a TV.

You can change resolutions and aspect ratios. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
